Meetings with your child’s class teacher are an important part of our communications with you during the school year. These meetings would normally take place in November following assessments and reports, and would involve parents coming in to school to meet face to face with the class teacher. As you will undoubtedly appreciate, meetings in this fashion cannot take place at the moment. We also considered that after such a turbulent year, and not being able to have meetings in March, that having meetings in November was far too late as we must also be aware of reporting on your child’s emotional health and well-being as well as their academic progress.
With these considerations in mind we decided it was beneficial for your children to hold parents’ consultations in the week beginning the 12 October*. These will be held between 1300 and 1600 and will be conducted via Teams, the dates of which are outlined below. Meeting appointment timings will be available to book via ParentMail – you will receive a separate communication when this is live. You will be sent a link by the class teacher to access the Teams meeting. These meetings are not compulsory; if you are happy with how your child is progressing in their new class or you have already engaged in dialogue with the class teacher then please do not feel obliged to attend. You will still receive your child’s termly report in November.
As per our usual parent/teacher meetings, the time with the teacher will be limited to 10 mins. During the meeting the teachers will aim to outline the following:
o Where your child is in comparison to Age Related Expectations;
o Areas for development following our recent assessments;
o Your child’s social and emotional well-being within the class and school.
For those with children in Reception, the focus of the meeting will be on their social and emotional development.
If you are unable to access Teams during the times given then please contact your child’s class teacher and they will do their best to arrange a time that is time that is convenient to relay the information either by telephone or email.
I’m sure the school will have your support in this as we continue to move forward in very uncertain times.
