Teaching Assistant – Mrs McTieran
Welcome to Year 4! This is a year of growing independence, building confidence and developing a deeper understanding of the world around us. Through a wide range of learning experiences, children will be encouraged to think critically, work collaboratively, and challenge themselves to achieve their very best.
Our learning will take us from medieval England to the ancient Maya civilisation and the Anglo-Saxon period, helping us understand how people lived and how societies have changed over time. We will investigate some of the world's most fascinating environments, including the Amazon rainforest and the Himalayas, while in Science we will become investigators, exploring sound, electricity, states of matter, living things and the human body. Creativity is an important part of Year 4, with opportunities to develop artistic, musical and design skills through a range of practical projects and performances.
As a whole school, we are guided by our vision: "To ignite a passion for learning in all; to embolden a community of high aspiration and fulfilment."
In Year 4, we encourage children to be curious, resilient, and reflective learners. Through our #ThisChildCan ethos, we celebrate effort, perseverance, and achievement, while our #ThisFamilyCan events provide opportunities to share and celebrate learning together.
We look forward to an exciting year of discovery, creativity, and achievement in Year 4.
