    Our Curriculum

Welcome to Year One! Our Year One Class learns through both adult-led teaching and child-initiated, play-based learning as they move from the Early Years Foundation Stage to exploring the National Curriculum for the first time. Across the year, we encounter a broad range of subjects, including: Geography, History, Music, Art, Science, Design & Technology, Computing, PE, RE and PSHE. Provision-based learning supports children to further develop their thinking across these specific areas of learning and promotes the continuing development of their communication and language skills, creative and critical thinking, and their physical, social, and emotional growth.

Throughout our Curriculum, we are guided by our school vision: “To ignite a passion for learning in all; to embolden a community of high aspiration and fulfilment.”

In Year One, we ask big questions and wonder about the world around us. We think about what Spirituality might mean to us, reflecting upon this both in our learning and through the ‘Green Moments’ we invite the children to practice together as a class. We hope to empower our young people through our school motto, #ThisChildCan, and work together to co-create a community where everyone is welcome and grows through our shared school values. Above all, Year One builds upon the vital foundations nurtured in the Early Years Foundation Stage to embolden a lasting love of learning in our children.
